So, you may or may not have read in my latest art upload that I'd be doing some blogs related to a video game mod.

Well, this is that! Only after a few weeks (or maybe one, time is fleeting), I am actually posting this! Better late than never I suppose.

Since this is the first of these "sketch-planations", why don't I do a quick rundown of what this is, and then move onto the subject matter at hand.

What is a sketch-planation? Well simply, it's just basically me describing my drawing process, what my thought process is making stuff, and perhaps stuff related to that. Yeah, it's that simple. Maybe.

I've also had the thought of making a separate blog describing the process behind my various ideas, but that may or may not be redundant. Ah well, time to move onto more relevant stuff.

Today's subject is: Mushroom Kingdom Fusion

Yup, that was the game I was modding for! Well not a mod, but rather a resprite, because I can't program for shit. I can however, draw for diarrhea! Months ago I discovered this fun fan-game browsing itch-io, and although I didn't have any expectations, I was surprised by how large and expansive the game was with the character roster and various worlds. So fun that I thought: "Why not do a resprite for a character or two?" Since I played as Wario the most due to his versatile and fun as hell move-set (it's Wario, of course he's gonna be the best character), that's who I decided to resprite. But who to replace him with?...

Y'know Butch, you present a convincing argument.

...but who the hell is "Butch"? Why not replace Wario with someone more recognizable, instead of this rando over here?

Well, allow me to introduc-

Who is Butch anyways (AKA, why am I so great?)

Yup, I'm taking over now! Who better to explain who I am than the greatest person to ever live? (That'd be me.)

So anyways, who am I? Well, from this script that I generously "borrowed" from Mr. Dude back there: "Butch is the rival to Alkin in a game idea (an RPG specifically) that I've had for years called 'Best Buds'. The story of it has been vague and subject to change, but it's always been character-based in the sense I have the characters, I just don't have the story." 

Well, we always gotta have our fantasy's in the meantime y'know? Anyways for the part specifically on me: "The idea has always centered on the idea of the titular duo: Alkin and Dr. Tongue and whoever else joins them. Considering I had trouble thinking of a main villain that would conflict with them, I decided to make the next best thing for now: Rivals! It makes sense considering if you want to explore a character's dynamic, you can make a rival foil that allows you to think about how they go about doing things.. That's a lot of word speak to say how Butch and Jason were born. Considering I based Alkin somewhat off of Mario, it only makes sense to make Butch the Wario."

I don't think I was born from Dr. Dude lying down there, but the comment about this Wario seems to be relevant to what this script said before. If I was to replace Wario, why not replace it with the only person able to embody the entirety of Wario, y'know? Oh, and Jason is a pretty cool dude; I need to take him for fish taco's down at this new place soon.

Ooh! And before I forget, I found these photos within this script. Apparently these are a "W.I.P" for months:

Damn, don't I look good? Still though, there could be more of me. (The entire spriting process was pretty fun to be fair, trying to translate Butch into the sprite size and also adding in my own flair. Still though, there's a lot more work to be done).

..Yeah, I can see why gruel guy over here lost motivation to do this entire thing. I mean, if you had to draw my magnificence multiple times, it would be tiring! (Yeah, even if I finished the base sprite-set for Butch and only have to do tweaking, it still would take an absolute while considering I'd have to go through each frame and change them into the appropriate costume. I probably will finish this later down the line, but considering I have other fish to fry, don't hold your breath.)
